Ever ask yourself… what’s the meaning of life?
Or, hey, as long as we’re asking deep questions here, let’s really get into it!
What’s the meaning of my life?
It’s a question I thought long and hard about all through college, being a philosophy major with a tendency to daydream.
No one seemed to have any satisfying answers. I wasn’t raised in a religious household, and the people I knew valued things like science and intellect (along with money and power) over any kind of spiritual principles.
There had to be something bigger – or so I hoped.
Then 9/11 happened, and the Twin Towers collapsed just a few blocks from my college dorm room. In the midst of death, destruction, and chaos, I became convinced that there was no meaning in life.
That kicked off a decade of searching for happiness in a drug, a drink, or some other shallow conquest.
Boy, was that a recipe for despair and hopelessness!
Over the next few years, I was introduced to the concept of recovery by a wise woman named Kathy.
And so I began a program of recovery, salvaging my life by finding my own personal Higher Power, which I call…
Love.
- Love teaches me to recognize what I’m good at and embrace it fully.
- Love teaches me to value myself and treat myself well.
- Love teaches me to face my problems with faith and courage, not fear.
- Love teaches me to be a kinder, gentler, and more generous mother, daughter, artist, and professional.
What do you believe in?
Let’s discover it together.
